On June 4, 2024, Clinical Professor Dr. Saran Boonbaichaiphruek, NBTC Chairman, and Mr. Trairat Wiriyasirikul, Acting Secretary-General of the NBTC, represented Thailand at the 2024 Council-24 session in Geneva, Switzerland. Discussions at the meeting covered strategic planning, policy implementation, budgeting, and setting the direction of ITU’s operations from 2024-2027, focusing on tasks such as determining frequency bands, developing telecommunications standards, and reducing the digital divide. Thai representatives highlighted ITU’s role in promoting inclusive, safe, and sustainable AI use and emphasized Thailand’s commitment to supporting ITU’s mission. Important topics included the construction of ITU’s new headquarters and support for Palestine’s telecommunications sector rehabilitation. This marks Thailand’s second official participation in the Council-24 meeting, showcasing its proactive engagement in international telecommunications affairs.
