The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority confirmed its partnership to ease telecommunications device imports and ensure regulatory compliance.

Eng. Bassam Al-Sarhan, Chairman of the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission, held a meeting with the Amman Chamber of Commerce and communications sector representatives to discuss regulatory instructions for obtaining type approval for communications devices and regulating their entry into Jordan. The meeting aimed to gather feedback from the private sector, ensure partnership between public and private sectors, and facilitate the import of communication devices, especially those for e-learning.

The discussion focused on amending instructions to encourage technological development, promote advanced devices, and ensure compliance with international standards. It included proposals to extend the validity of type approvals to two years and allow private use devices to enter without approval. The amendments aim to support research, innovation, and the digital transformation in Jordan.

Attendees appreciated the Commission’s efforts to address the commercial sector’s concerns and incorporate their feedback.
