The National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has announced that, effective October 1, 2025, no type approval or release authorization will be granted for shipments containing 3G mobile communication devices that do not support higher-generation technologies such as 4G or 5G.

This measure forms part of the NTRA’s broader initiative to phase out legacy mobile technologies and promote the adoption of advanced communication networks across Egypt.
