Qatar’s Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has issued an updated Regulation for the construction, installation, and sharing of radio communications sites, aimed at improving safety and enabling future-ready telecom infrastructure. The update follows public consultation and stakeholder engagement, aligning international best practices with Qatar’s local requirements while enhancing transparency in site approvals.
The new Regulation introduces a unified framework for planning and designing mobile network sites and consolidates three previous regulatory instruments into a single guideline. It sets mandatory technical and safety standards for various site types, including EMF exposure limits, and promotes infrastructure sharing through co-location and early coordination among service providers and authorities.
CRA said the framework will support efficient deployment of 5G and emerging technologies, reduce costs for service providers, and strengthen public health, environmental protection, and sustainable development in line with Qatar National Vision 2030. |
