Algeria’s Executive Decree No. 26-97 (2026) introduces a modernised type approval framework for electronic communication equipment, aimed at improving efficiency, transparency, and digitalisation. The regulation extends the validity of type approval certificates from three to five years while allowing existing approvals to remain valid until their expiry. It also introduces an electronic application system to streamline submissions and communication with authorities, along with a requirement to submit product samples within five working days.

Additionally, approved equipment will be publicly listed by regulatory bodies, and clear labeling requirements have been established. Overall, manufacturers and importers must ensure compliance with the updated procedures, timelines, and marking obligations to access the Algerian market.
