The Telecommunication Regulator of Cambodia (TRC) has issued an important clarification regarding local importer requirements for the Type Approval process in Cambodia.
According to the latest update, TRC has emphasized that the local importer involved in the Type Approval application must be a company holding Qualified Agent (QA) status with TRC. This requirement is now being strictly reviewed during the evaluation and approval process.
The regulation has been reinforced due to import permit requirements applicable to certain telecommunications products prior to shipment into Cambodia. Only companies officially recognized by TRC as Qualified Agents are authorized to apply for these import permits. As a result, the nominated local importer must possess valid QA status to ensure successful approval and importation procedures.
TRC further clarified the following key points:
Local importer information is mandatory for TRC record and compliance purposes.
The importer’s name will not appear on the issued Type Approval certificate.
Failure to provide a qualified local importer may lead to application delays, rejection, or requests for additional documentation and clarification.
Manufacturers, importers, and applicants are strongly advised to verify the QA status of their local importing partners before submitting applications to avoid unnecessary complications during the approval process. |
