Indonesia Updates National Frequency Allocation Plan

Indonesia has issued Ministry of Communication and Digital Regulation No. 8 of 2026, updating the National Frequency Allocation Plan (TASFRI) and replacing the previous 2022 framework. The revised plan aligns national spectrum policy with ITU WRC-23 decisions and serves as the updated reference for frequency assignment and type approval activities in the country.

The new allocation framework designates key strategic spectrum bands for mobile and next-generation connectivity, including 694–806 MHz (700 MHz band) for International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT), 1427–1518 MHz for mobile and broadband wireless access, and 24.25–27.5 GHz for high-capacity 5G applications.

The regulation also confirms provisions for unlicensed and lightly licensed spectrum use. The 6425–7125 MHz (6 GHz band) is allocated for Wireless Access Systems, while the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands continue under existing class licensing arrangements for Wi-Fi equipment.

This update provides a consolidated spectrum framework to support Indonesia’s evolving digital infrastructure and next-generation wireless deployment roadmap.
