ANRT Morocco Updates Technical Specifications for Type Approval under ANRT/DG/N°12/23
The National Telecommunications Regulatory Agency (ANRT) of Morocco recently made available its Decision ANRT/DG/N°12/23, which outlines the technical specifications required for type approval of terminal equipment and radio installations.
The updated decision introduces a number of noteworthy changes, including the incorporation of new technical specifications for type approval, such as 6GHz WiFi 6E, GPON, GNSS, and ESIM.
Additionally, there are new provisions related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), low-voltage electrical safety (LVD), and human RF exposure (Health).
The decision also specifies that equipment with a cellular interface must support 4G (LTE) technology at a minimum, and 5G is announced but not yet available as mobile operators must acquire licenses in the anticipated bands 3.4-3.8 GHz before offering the service and user equipment supporting 5G technology must be 5G SA (standalone) compatible.
Only the 5150-5350 MHz frequencies are allowed for Wi-Fi 5 and Wi-Fi 6E, and the 5.470-5.725 GHz band is licensed for Point to Point applications.
