The Communications Authority of Kenya (CA) has appointed Charles Kamau Karondo as its new Director General, effective August 2025. This leadership change underscores the Authority’s commitment to strengthening regulatory oversight, governance, and transparency within Kenya’s telecommunications sector.

Updated Letter of Authorization (LoA) Requirements
To address rising instances of document fraud, the CA has introduced stricter requirements for Letters of Authorization (LoA) submitted as part of type approval applications. The updated rules are intended to enhance document authenticity and improve traceability.

Key Requirements:

LoAs must be issued on the manufacturer’s or client’s official letterhead.

The document must include accurate contact details, including valid phone numbers and email addresses.

The company’s official website must be clearly stated on the LoA.

LoA submissions that do not meet these criteria will be rejected without further processing. Stakeholders with compliant documentation are not required to take additional action at this time.
