The Communications Regulatory Authority (CRA) has issued the fifth version of the Class License for Short-Range Devices, incorporating feedback from stakeholders following a public consultation earlier this year. The updated license reflects CRA’s commitment to staying aligned with rapid advancements in radiocommunication technologies and international standards. Key changes in the new version include the addition of new frequency bands and increased flexibility in permitted transmit power values, allowing for a broader range of short-range devices to be used and sold in Qatar. This update aims to support various sectors and improve consumer services, in line with Qatar’s National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy (2024-2030), which focuses on enhancing residents’ quality of life and meeting global service standards. The fifth version replaces the previous edition issued in June 2021, marking a step forward in CRA’s ongoing efforts to modernize regulatory frameworks and meet the evolving needs of the telecommunications sector.
