El Salvador’s Superintendence of Electricity and Telecommunications (SIGET) has granted two pairs of dual polarization frequencies in the country’s radio spectrum, under decision T-0693-2024. This move aims to enhance the efficiency and capacity of telecommunications networks, allowing operators to double data transmission within the same frequency band by using both horizontal and vertical polarizations simultaneously.

The allocation is expected to boost network capacity, improve service quality by reducing signal interference, and support the rollout of next-generation technologies like 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), and smart city infrastructure. It also aligns with global trends in efficient spectrum management and supports El Salvador’s digital transformation goals.

This decision reflects SIGET’s ongoing efforts to modernize the country’s telecom infrastructure and ensure it meets increasing demand for high-speed services, while positioning El Salvador as a competitive player in the regional telecom market.
