The IMDA has updated its Equipment Registration Guide (IMDA GUIDE EQR), reinforcing requirements for telecom equipment approval in Singapore under the Supplier’s Declaration of Conformity (SDoC) model.
The framework maintains a risk-based approach with three registration categories:
ESER: For complex multi-line and low-power devices based on supplier self-declaration SER: For common devices such as mobile phones (5G/LTE) and broadband equipment GER: For higher-risk technologies like base stations and UWB devices requiring third-party certification
Suppliers must ensure compliance with international standards covering safety, EMC, and EMF exposure, and are responsible for product labelling, documentation retention (5 years), and re-registration for major product changes.
Registrations remain valid for five years, with renewal required via the GoBusiness portal before expiry. Certain devices, such as those using overseas SIMs for permanent roaming (e.g., some IoT/M2M products), are excluded from the framework.
