The Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) in Peru has approved regulations for Legislative Decree No. 1627, aimed at promoting the deployment of 5G and higher public telecommunications services. This step is designed to enhance connectivity, digitalization, productivity, and reduce technological gaps in the country. The regulations establish a framework for direct spectrum allocation, prioritizing companies that commit to significant investments. An auction process will be used to distribute the spectrum efficiently, with preference given to those making the largest investment commitments. The MTC highlights that this initiative will drive modernization, foster innovation, and support key sectors like mining, healthcare, and education, ultimately contributing to Peru’s economic growth and sustainable development. |
