Nepal: NTA Resumes Issuing Voluntary Exemption Letters for Non-Standard Wireless Devices

The Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA) has resumed issuing voluntary exemption letters for certain non-standard wireless devices following a period of suspension. The exemption applies to specialized radio equipment operating outside standard Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular technologies. These letters provide official confirmation of a product’s regulatory status and can help facilitate customs clearance where full type approval is not required. Manufacturers and importers of such devices can once again apply for exemption letters. However, applicants should confirm the latest requirements and eligibility with NTA or a local representative before proceeding.
