The National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) has officially launched eSIM technology in the Egyptian market, following the successful completion of all necessary technical tests by the four mobile operators. Additionally, the NTRA has partnered with “Sci Shield” to establish and operate the eSIM data center. This launch is part of the Authority’s efforts to enhance the user experience and align with the objectives outlined in Law No. 10 of 2003, particularly in keeping pace with technological advancements and fostering digital transformation in Egypt’s communications sector. eSIM technology, which replaces traditional mobile SIM cards, allows users to switch between mobile network providers without needing to replace a physical SIM card. It offers greater security as it is integrated into the device, reducing the risk of theft or misuse. This advancement also boosts the efficiency and sustainability of communication services. The eSIM provides users with enhanced flexibility, allowing them to easily activate a new number or transfer their existing number without needing to replace the chip, ensuring uninterrupted service. To support this, the NTRA has issued a comprehensive guide to assist users in navigating the eSIM service in Egypt. |
