Pakistan’s Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released Version 1.4 of its revised regulatory framework for Short Range Devices (SRD) and Terrestrial IoT, effective 18 December 2025. The update sets out revised technical, regulatory, and spectrum management requirements for the operation, deployment, and licensing of SRD and IoT systems in Pakistan.
The framework replaces earlier versions and introduces updated frequency allocations, technical limits, and device registration procedures to improve spectrum efficiency and reduce interference. Key elements include refined power limits, duty cycles, antenna requirements, mandatory PTA Type Approval for all relevant equipment, and clarification that SRD devices may operate licence-exempt, while IoT service providers must obtain appropriate PTA authorization. The revisions also align Pakistan’s SRD and IoT regulations with international standards to support interoperability. For more information kindly reach out to: typeapproval@5mglobal.com |
