IFT Introduced Guidelines for Product Approval

The Federal Telecommunications Institute of Mexico (IFT) informed that the guidelines for the approval of products, equipment, devices or apparatus intended for telecommunications or broadcasting become effective from June 27, 2022

The IFT notifies that Homologation application must be submitted only through the “Request Format/eFormat for obtaining the Homologation Certificate for a Telecommunications or Broadcasting Product” according to Appendix C of the Guidelines through the electronic service portal of the IFT.

The following requests can be applied according to the Guidelines:

Application for Certificate of Homologation TYPE A

Application for extension of the homologation certificate Type A: Family of Product models or group of products

Request for the Report on changes in the Product for Type A Homologation

Application for Certificate of Homologation TYPE B

Application for Certificate of Homologation TYPE C

Request for reissuance of the Homologation Certificate

Application for revocation of the Homologation Certificate

Application for Type A Registration Inherently conforming products or scientific, medical or industrial equipment or apparatus

Please, note that homologation certificates now are non-transferable but can include affiliates, subsidiaries and importers (relevant for Homologation Types A and C). 

The key changes within the conformity procedure are the following:

Schematics and block diagrams should be provided when applying for Homologation Types B and C

Technical file should be in Spanish, including user manual

The prefix “IFT” and the number of the Homologation Certificate must be easily legible
