Open consultation for 6 GHz devices

Due to the increased use of WLAN (Wireless Local Area Network) in New Zealand, Radio Spectrum Management (RMS) has opened a public consultation seeking feedback on their preliminary views and proposals for the 5925 MHz – 7125 MHz frequency range.

RSM proposes to authorise the General User Radio Licence (GURL) for Short Range Devices (SRD) to cover low power and very lower power WLAN devices in the range 5925 – 6425 MHz:

Low Power devices operating at 24 dBm for indoor use only

Very Low Power devices operating at 14 dBm for all locations

Comments shall be submitted no later than 5pm on 30th of June 2021 per email to: Radio.Spectrum@mbie.govt.nz with subject line: “Consultation Submission – WLAN use in the 6 GHz band”
