CITC Opens Public Consultation for Spectrum Use Regulation for Amateur Radio Services

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) open public consultation for Spectrum use regulation for Amateur Radio Services. This document allocates and regulates the use of spectrum for amateur radio service.

The maximum allowable level of spurious emissions, relative to the transmitted power are :

*  Using frequencies ≤ 30 MHz should be 40 dB less than the average power in the necessary transmission bandwidth, provided that this power does not exceed 50 mW

* Using frequencies > 30 MHz should be 60 dB less than the average power in the necessary transmission bandwidth, provided that this power does not exceed 1 mW

There are two categories of Amateur Radio License. The category determines which frequency bands the Radio Amateur is Permitted to transmit on :

* Full License: Allows the Radio Amateur to transmit and receive on all the frequency bands allowed for the Amateur Service in the KSA

* Foundation License: Allows the Radio Amateur to only transmit on frequency bands above 30 MHz
