| The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) announced the recommendations from the eighth roundtable meeting of Arab governments and regulatory bodies. Hosted last month, the meeting focused on Internet infrastructure and policies in the Middle East, in cooperation with RIPE NCC. Key recommendations included enhancing regional and international cooperation, unifying efforts within the Arab digital agenda, and expanding training workshops. Emphasis was placed on developing Internet governance policies, creating frameworks to address challenges like cybersecurity and AI, and promoting local content hosting. Participants also highlighted the need for using Internet Protocol IPv6 and encouraged communication through mailing lists to share best practices and reports. Additionally, a proactive approach to strategic planning was recommended to address future challenges, and the Egyptian delegation was invited to host the ninth roundtable in Cairo. |
