ACMA publishes amendment to Short Range Devices Standard.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) issued on 27 April 2021 the Radio Communications (Short Range Devices) Amendment Standard 2021 (No. 1) under the Radio Communications Act 1992.

 

The updates to the old Radio communications (Short Range Devices) Standard 2014 include the following:

 

The reference to Australian / NewZealand Industry Standard AS/NZS 4268:2012 Radio equipment and systems – Short range devices – Limits and methods of measurement is updated in order to define minimum performance requirements and methods of measurement for short range devices.

 

The reference to international standards in order to provide an alternative to AS/NZS 4268 for testing methods.

CRA launches Public Consultation on Class License for SRD

The Communications Regulatory Authority of the State of Qatar issued Version No. 4 of the Class License for Short Range Devices (SRD) dated April 22, 2021. The regulation includes an updated list of SRD applications, applicable frequencies, field strength/output power, test references, and other information to which SRDs must comply. Major changes in the new regulation include the following:

  • Bluetooth – the max EIRP was increased from 10 mW to 100 mW
  • Non-Specific SRDs – the frequency bands 24–24.25 GHz and 57–64 GHz were added
  • RFID – the frequency bands 867.6–868 MHz and 400–600 KHz were added
  • WAS/RLAN – the max EIRP for the 5725-5875 MHz band was reduced from 100 mW to 25 mW, and the max EIRP for the 5470-5725 MHz band was increased from 100 mW to 1000 mW

Agence Nationale de Réglementation des Télecommunications (ANRT) of Morocco published Decision ANRT/DG/No. 07/2021 which authorizes under certain conditions the free use of frequency band 5925 – 6425 MHz which is used by Wi-Fi 6E.WiFi 6E is  authorized in Morocco with the same conditions as Europe in the band 5925-6425 MHz

SUTEL Extends apostle Exemption for Cellular Applications

Superintendencia de Telecomunicaciones (SUTEL) in Costa Rica has issued RCS-118-2021 that extends the Apostille convention stamped documents requirement exemption for registration of new companies in the SUTEL online portal, in order to submit type approval applications for cellular equipment. The extension is for an additional one year, until June 9, 2022.

Update Label Requirements

Telecom Regulatory Authority Sierra Leone Update Regulations. Since November 2020 the agency has updated the regulation about label requirements.

The Label must contain

*  The logo of the commission,

*  The product type / category; and

*  A unique Type Approval Number

 The sample of the labeling format

*  TAN = Type Approval Number

*  YYYY = Year of Certification (Four digits)

*  PCN = Product Category Number (Three digits)

*  UTAN = Unique Type Approval Number (Four digits)

China Updates National Radio Regulations

China Regulatory Authority Update National Radio Regulations.The Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People’s Republic of China (MIIT) issued Notice on the Radio Management for the 2400MHz, 5100MHz and 5800MHz bands. The new regulations are going to be effective from January 1, 2022. At the moment the following four Regulations will be cancelled:

  • Notice on updating the 2.4GHz frequency band transmit power limit and related issues (信部无[2002] №353)
  • Notice on the use of 5.8GHz frequency band (信部无 [2002] No. 277)
  • Notice on Relevant Issues Concerning the Special Wireless Short-range Communication System for Intelligent Traffic Management in the 5.8GHz Frequency Band (信部无 [2003] No. 225)
  • Notice on Issues Related to the Frequency Use of Wireless Access System in the 5150-5350MHz Frequency Band (信部无 [2012] No. 620)

 

So, it is supposed that approval of radio transmitting equipment can be carried out on the base of the four above-mentioned regulations up to December 31, 2021. Previously certified equipment doesn’t require recertification. However, once the validity period of the certificate is expired it is necessary to apply for renewal against new technical regulations requirements.

Please, note that according to the new regulation the wireless LAN devices with IP address allocation function should support the IPv6 protocol and enable the IPv6 address allocation function by default.

Brazil Regulatory Authority ANATEL published last Friday the Official letter nº 65/2021. Due to the remaining impact of COVID-19, ANATEL decided to extend the Streamlined renewal process once more and now all Certificates with expiration date between March 6th, 2020 and Dec 31st, 2021 are exempt of doing renewal testing and providing new external/internal photos as long as the device had not suffered any modification.

Thailand regulatory authority release new standard

Thailand Regulatory Authority (The National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission) has released a new standard (NBTC TS1038-2564) for the use of UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicles) in the 24.05 GHz to24.25 GHz band. The new standard came inforce  on March 12, 2021.
