ANATEL Extends Deadline for Simplified Renewal Procedure

On July 26, 2022, the National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) in Brazil published an official letter No. 265/2022 for extends the simplified renewal process , which postponing the deadline for simplified renewal policy until October 31, 2022.

For a renewal of a certificate of conformity, ANATEL intermittently waives submission of the following documents:

  • internal/external photos (only applicable if the device has undergone no modifications),
  • test reports (not applicable for devices which failed conformity assessment tests).

The prior deadline was published in ANATEL’s official Letter No. 233/2021.

ANATEL Approves technical requirements for the 3.7 to 3.8 GHz

The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) approved, through Act No. 8,991/2022 , the technical requirements and conditions of use for low-power ground stations in the 3.7-3.8 GHz band.

The Act approved the use of the band from 3.7 GHz to 3.8 GHz by stations of terrestrial systems, especially for private networks, indoor and outdoor , operating at low power and operational limits and engineering technicians who promote the appropriate conditions for the use and sharing of the radio frequency spectrum in that band

The Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) in Brazil published Ato No. 8995 on June 27, 2022. It resolve that technical and operational requirements for the use of the band from 3700 MHz to 3800 MHz by low power terrestrial service station.

ANATEL published new Act 5159

On 8th of April 2022 The Agência Nacional de Telecomunicações (ANATEL) in Brazil had published the new Act 5159 .This new Act Applies to Wired and Wireless Power Supplies and chargers meant to be used with mobile phones. It includes the all the testing requirements for EMC and safety. This new act will become in force in 180 days (26th October 2022) replacing the previous Act 3481.

The scope of the Act applies to:

  A/C portable chargers i.e., residential chargers

  D/C portable chargers i.e., car chargers

  AC/DC inductive chargers

  Special-purpose USB interfaces (ports) for electrical power to electronic devices, without data transmission functionality, regardless of the type of electrical power supply.

Some important notes:

  USB interfaces that integrate the electrical/electronic design of equipment (i.e., TV, computer, multimedia centre, etc.) are not covered by these requirements.

  For vehicular chargers, the ESD tests must be applied in accordance with item 8.3 of ISO 10605/2008 (before it was referring to IEC 61000-4-2).

Electrostatic discharges must be applied at the following levels: 2 kV, 4 kV and 6 kV for contact discharges and 4 kV, 6 kV and 8 kV for air discharges.

For vehicular chargers, the surge and transient immunity testing must be performed in accordance with ISO 7637-2/2004.

For USB type built-in vehicular chargers, ANATEL will accept the ESD (ISO 10605/2008), surge and transients (ISO 7637-2/2004) testing report done in a 1st or 2nd part laboratory, accredited by ILAC or evaluated by OCD.

The use of Security seal (Mint label) will be optional for built-in vehicular chargers sold along with the vehicle.  If the manufacturer chooses not to use the mint label, the device must have the ANATEL marking on its label, such as ANATEL ID: HHHHH-YY-FFFFF.

This means the removal of safety testing for vehicle built-in chargers and Voltage Dips/variation (ice 61000-4-11) Immunity Testing.

The Public consultation regarding update of the technical requirements for conformity assessment of Optical Network Terminal  (ONT), Optical Line Terminal  (OLT) and Optical Network Unit  ( OLT) equipment ONU) for fiber optic networks with passive network standards GPON, XGPON and XGSPON.
