SUBTEL publish Resolución 2844

Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL) published Resolution 2844.decided to review its spectrum decision and make available only part of the 6 GHz band, between 5.925 MHz and 6.125 MHz, for use of unlicensed services.
The resolution takes into consideration the following points:

1) That it is necessary to adjust the frequency bands of the technology called WiFi 6 in the regulations, in order to await the decision on international harmonization that will take place at the next World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23), indicated in the item 1.2 of the Agenda for said meeting.

2) That it is necessary to adapt the certification requirements to the reality of the market.

3) The need to efficiently manage the use of the radio spectrum, and in use of my legal powers.

Chile Issues New Resolution for Short-Range Devices

The Chilean authority has amended the requirements for Short Range Devices (SRD). The amendments are as follows:

  • Power limits for outdoor application of SRD operating in the 5.150-*5.250GHz band have been increased to max 1W (30dBm) e.i.r.p. with power spectral density limits of 17mW/MHz.
  • Access Points (AP) operating in the frequency band from 5.925 to 7.125 MHz are for indoor use only and should have the following technical parameters: max 30 dBm e.i.r.p., power spectrum density limit of 5 dBm / MHz.
  • APs operating in the frequency band from 5.925 to 7.125 MHz must only have integrated antennas and cannot be equipped with external or removable antennas
  • APs operating in the frequency band from 5.925 to 7.125 MHz cannot use internal batteries or have spaces for their installation
  • User terminal devices that are connected with such APs must operate at the following power levels of max 24 dBm e.i.r.p. or 250mW and max power spectral density limit of -1 dBm / MHz.
