UPDATES ON CERTIFICATION OF IPv6 CELLULAR EQUIPMENT

Interim Type Approval for IPv6 cellular equipment without WiFi interface is extended for another year, effective from 10th July 2021, until further notice. As such, all new applications and renewal of Certificate of Conformity (CoC) are allowed with a maximum validity of one (1) year.

However, within interim approval period, the applicant shall conduct the test with any accredited laboratory available and submit the test report for SIRIM evaluation. Full approval will be issued if the cellular equipment found compliance to IPv6 requirement.

New Requirements for IT/Networking Application

SIRIM QAS International has implemented the certification for Active Indoor Antenna for Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) and Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) in according to MCMC MTSFB TC T014:2017 and MCMC MTSFB TC T013:2019 respectively. Therefore, the importation of the above products into the country shall subject to compliance approval or special approval.

With the above requirements, please be informed that the IT/Networking Module in eComM has been updated with a new module as to ensure application for IT/Networking are fulfils with the new requirements.

Therefore, with effective from 1st August 2021

application for IT/Networking shall be processed as follows:

Application Criteria

New Requirement

IT/ Networking application submitted before 1st Aug 2021 (Use Old IT/Networking Module)

a) Approved application will be issued with a validity period until 31st July 2021.

b) Certificate of Approval (CoA) application is allowed until 31st July 2021, however application submitted after 31st July 2021 will be rejected by the system.

IT/ Networking application submitted from 1st August 2021 and onwards (Use New IT/Networking Module)

a) Approved application will be issued with a validity period of one (1) year from the date of File Number is generated.

b) Certificate of Approval (CoA) application is allowed within the validity period, however application submitted after end of validity period will be rejected by the system

New Class of Assignments issued for Devices

The Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) has issued a new class assignment that confers rights for a person to use frequencies for devices.

The usage of a list of devices under class assignment is subject to conditions provided in the class assignment issued under section 169 of CMA.

No fee shall be payable for class assignment. A class assignment is valid until it is cancelled by MCMC.

Examples of Class Assignment:

  • Walkie-Talkie (Family Radio System)
  • Wireless LAN and Bluetooth
  • Mobile Wireless Charger
  • Remote Control

No application is required for Class Assignment. The devices must be certified by MCMC or its registered certifying agency.

Malaysia Updates MCMC /SIRIM Certificate Format

SIRIM QAS International Sdn. Bhd of Malaysia has changed the content of the certificate. The new form of certificate starts to be issued from the middle of February.  These changes were made according to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission requirements on including specific information on the product. So now if there is any module in the approved product, information on the module will be indicated in the certificate as well

MCMC revised Technical Code for Short Range Devices

On 6 May 2020, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) registered the 2nd revision of the Technical Code for Short Range Devices “MCMC MTSFB TC T007: 2020”, which cancels and replaces the previous version MCMC MTSFB TC T007: 2014.

The main modification are as following:

  a) Update the frequency bands and maximum transmit power limits for generic and specific SRD applications to be aligned with the latest Class Assignment No. 2 of 2019; 

 b) Inclusion of technical requirements for new SRD applications such as Ultra-Wideband (UWB), inductive device and automotive radar based on the latest Class Assignment No. 2 of 2019; and  

c) Inclusion of new technical requirements for electrical safety and EMC for devices that can be directly connected to the service provider’s network.
