CQC Implement new standard GB 17625.1-2022 for electronic products

China Quality Certification Centre (CQC) in China publish a Notification about the new version of the EMC standard GB17625 for electronic products and their accessories. New version of EMC standard GB 17625.1-2022 was released on 2022 and will be released in 2024 it will be implemented and replace GB 17625.1-2012.

From the date of issuance of this notice to June 30, 2024, enterprises can voluntarily choose to implement certification in accordance with the new version of the standard or the old version of the standard. From July 1, 2024, the new version of the standard shall be used for certification.

For products that have been certified according to the old version of the standard, the holder of the old version of the standard certification certificate should apply for the conversion of the new version of the standard certification certificate.

The conversion of all old standard certification certificates should be completed before June 30, 2025 at the latest; if it is not completed within the time limit, CQC will suspend the old standard certification certificates, For certificates which have not been converted by 30 September 2025, CQC will have to cancel the certificates.

For certified products which have been shipped out of the factory before 1 July 2024, put on the market, and no longer produced, certificate conversion is not required.

Canada ISED adopt new two standards

The Department of Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED) in Canada  planning to adopt the following standards:

ANSI C63.10-2020, American National Standard of Procedures for Compliance Testing of Unlicensed Wireless Devices, modified per ANSI C63.10-2020/Cor 1-2023.

ANSI C63.25.1-2018, American National Standard, Validation Methods for Radiated Emission Test Sites, 1 GHz to 18 GHz.

MIIT Announce deadline type approval application.

MIIT of China issue notification about the deadline for applying products type approval using the standards MIIT [2002] 353, MIIT [2002] 277, and MIIT [2012] 620 in the 2.4/5.1/5.8GHz frequency bands.

Main changes are give :

Effective October 15, 2023, no new applications for the old standard of products with 2.4/5.1/5.8GHz frequency bands will be accepted, and applications for adding modules certified under the old standard to a new host device will no longer be accepted.

Effective October 15, 2023, renewal applications will only be accepted for devices with 2.4/5.1/5.8GHz frequency bands that meet the new standard MIIT [2021] 129; renewal applications for certificates under the old standard will no longer be accepted.

The equipment/modules certified under the old standard in the 2.4/5.1/5.8GHz frequency bands can be updated to the new standard for equipment through an updated application within the certificate validity period. The updated application requires submission of a self-test or third-party lab report. The laboratory must have CMA qualification and have the testing capability of MIIT [2021] 129.

Applications for equipment under the old standard must be accepted before October 15, 2023.
The maximum validity period for issuing a certificate is December 31, 2025. During the validity period of the certificate, manufacturers with equipment certified under the old standard can apply for an update to meet MIIT [2021] 129 requirements. After the equipment is updated to the new standard, a renewal application will need to be submitted before its expiration date.

ICASA RELEASES MORE SPECTRUM FOR WI-FI SERVICES IN THE LOWER 6GHZ BAND

The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa ICASA has published an Amendment to Annexure B of Radio Frequency Spectrum Regulations, 2015 in respect of Radio Frequency Spectrum License Exemptions, effectively opening up the lower 6 GHz spectrum band for the provision of Wi-Fi services. The specific frequencies covered by this amendment range from 5.925 GHz to 6.425 GHz.

This decision effectively allows the utilization of the lower 6 GHz spectrum for Wi-Fi services. Annexure B of the Radio Frequency Spectrum Regulations is an important component of implementing the provisions of the National Radio Frequency Band Plan

Additionally, ICASA has also incorporated the 122-246 GHz frequency band for Non-Specific Short-range Applications.

This Circular stipulates the List of potentially unsafe products and goods under the management responsibility of the Ministry of Information and Communications

Circular No. 02/2022/TT-BTTTT dated 16 May 2022 of the Minister of Information and Communications, which provides for the list of unsafe products and goods under the management responsibility of the Ministry of Information and Communications. The information and communication shall expire from the effective date of this circular 04/2023/TT-BTTTT 

The circular takes effect from 15 July 2023

FCC expands use of 12.2 – 12.7 and 12.7 – 13.25 GHz frequency band

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the U.S. released Report and Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking FCC 23-36 on May 19, 2023, to expand the use of 1050 MHz in the 12 GHz band for terrestrial and satellite communications systems, promoting technological innovation and bolstering the growth of the nation’s economy.

The rules reserve spectrum in the 12.2-12.7 GHz band for current and future satellite services and propose measures to allow use of the 12.7-13.25 GHz band for terrestrial wireless services, such as 6G services.

MTCTE Release new labelling guidelines

MTCTE revised labelling  guidelines No.5-10/2021-TC/TEC dated 7/9/2021.

Main changes are:

1) Old TEC certification E-label consist name of the Country ” INDIA”, Certificate number, TEC Logo and the address of TEC portal after modification TEC certification E-label consist of TEC logo along with MTCTE followed by the certificate number

2) TEC Logo shall be 1/4th of the size of the brand name on the product

3) Minimum height 6mm

Requirement of labelling on certified products shall be exempted for the initial period of six months with respect to the date from which testing and certification of equipment in India

The Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE)and the Department of Energy (DOE), USA recently released a notice regarding energy conservation standards for battery chargers.

The proposed new standards will affect the following types of chargers to be marketed in the US:
-Fixed-location wireless battery chargers
-Open-placement wireless battery chargers
-Low-energy, medium-energy, and high-energy battery chargers

TRA Issues Directive on International Roaming for IoT Services

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority has issued a directive on IoT devices used for international roaming SIMs; This is after studying the regulatory challenges of international roaming for IoT devices and consulting with relevant parties in the telecommunications sector.

The directive targets licensees to provide IoT services, service providers, vendors, and integration service providers, and seeks to regulate international roaming for IoT devices, enhance the security level of IoT services provided to beneficiaries, and protect their personal data.

IMDA allocate 6GHz Frequency band

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in Singapore announce more radio frequency spectrum to facilitate advanced Wi-Fi connectivity in Singaporeon on May 12, 2023, This will be done through an allocation of 500 MHz of spectrum in the 6 GHz band for Wi-Fi use in Singapore. IMDA will amend its Regulations to allocate the radio frequency spectrum 5,925 MHz – 6,425 MHz for Wi-Fi use in Singapore. IMDA expects Wi-Fi 6E-enabled equipment and devices to be commercially available in Singapore by 3Q 2023.
