Singapore’s Parliament passed the Competition (Amendment) Bill, transferring consumer product safety and legal metrology functions from Enterprise Singapore (EnterpriseSG) to the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore (CCCS). The amendments also update the Competition Act 2004, the Enterprise Singapore Board Act 2018, as well as related legislation including the Consumer Protection (Trade Descriptions and Safety Requirements) Act 1975 and the Weights & Measures Act 1975. AI Verify Foundation (AIVF) and Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) have proposed a draft Model AI Governance Framework for Generative AI that expands on the existing Model Governance Framework for Traditional AI. The proposed framework aims to create a trusted environment for end-users to use AI confidently and safely while allowing space for cutting-edge innovation. It integrates ideas from the earlier discussion paper on Generative AI and provides initial guidance on suggested practices for safety evaluation of Generative AI models. The framework looks at nine proposed dimensions to support a comprehensive and trusted AI ecosystem.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) has announced the gradual phase-out of Singapore’s 3G network, commencing from July 31, 2024. To facilitate a seamless transition, IMDA has released guidelines outlining new restrictions on mobile devices.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in Singapore published Technical Specification Security Requirements to Guard against Network Storms for Cellular Devices, IMDA TS CD-SEC, on July 1, 2022 and the deadline for compliance with the Technical Specification is July 1, 2023. All applicable cellular devices must now comply with IMDA TS CD-SEC and Section 7 of the GSMA TS.34 are also eligible to use either IMDA TS IOT or IMDA TS CMT. All newly applicable cellular devices must adhere to the IMDA TS CD-SEC during the registration of new equipment.
For cellular devices that were previously registered with IMDA prior to the implementation date, any necessary modifications to the application must be submitted before July 1, 2023. Before July 1, 2023, all applicable cellular devices need to conform to IMDA TS CD-SEC. By 30 June 2023, the equipment supplier must use Go Business Licensing to submit an amendment application for current registered equipment in order to comply with IMDA TS CD-SEC and to submit the Implementation Table and SDoC
Starting from July 1, 2023, all applicable cellular devices intended for local use in Singapore must comply with the new security requirements. Dealers and suppliers are required to discontinue the sale of any applicable cellular devices that do not meet the new requirements.

The Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) in Singapore announce more radio frequency spectrum to facilitate advanced Wi-Fi connectivity in Singaporeon on May 12, 2023, This will be done through an allocation of 500 MHz of spectrum in the 6 GHz band for Wi-Fi use in Singapore. IMDA will amend its Regulations to allocate the radio frequency spectrum 5,925 MHz – 6,425 MHz for Wi-Fi use in Singapore. IMDA expects Wi-Fi 6E-enabled equipment and devices to be commercially available in Singapore by 3Q 2023.
