IMDA open public consultation for 6GHz Frequency band

Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) of Singapore has issued a public consultation on the proposed allocation of the 6 GHz spectrum band for RLAN / Wi-Fi use in Singapore.
IMDA proposes to allocate the lower 500 MHz of the 6 GHz band, i.e., 5,925 MHz – 6,425 MHz, for RLAN / Wi-Fi use.

All submissions must reach IMDA by 12 noon on 14 March 2023

EXTEND DEADLINE ON REQUIREMENTS FOR RESIDENTIAL GATEWAYS

The Info-communications Media Development Authority of Singapore extends the deadline for compliance with security requirements for residential gateways (IMDA TS RG-SEC)

IMDA TS RG-SEC defines the minimum technical security requirements for design and management of residential gateways to home IoT devices

This IMDA Technical Specification sets out to minimize the vulnerability of the these gateways, ensuring that these devices are better protected when purchased and operated by consumers.

This mitigates both the communication networks, as well as the home IoT devices from security threats from the internet.

Devices marketed and sold for consumer operation in Singapore must comply with IMDA TS RG-SEC by May 2nd, 2022. Any model of device not in compliance by this date may no longer be sold or distributed by suppliers for local use by consumers.

Requirements to Short Range Devices

The Info-Communications Media Development Authority (IMDA) issued a second revision of technical specifications for Short Range Devices (SRD) on August 2, 2021. 

This Specification defines the minimum technical requirements for SRD including authorized frequency bands, the corresponding output power levels for SRDs as well as restricted conditions.

New Technical Specifications for SRDs

As of 2018-01-01, all equipment’s operating in the frequency band 698 – 806 MHz will be prohibited for sale according to the new procedures and requirements for the registration of telecommunication equipment released last 2018-09-02. Since 2018-09-14, only equipment operating in the radio frequency band 470 – 698 MHz are accepted for registration
