TRA Publishes Sixth National Telecommunication Plan

Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) has published the Sixth National Telecommunication Plan. This plan was formulated by Arthur D. Little, an international management consulting firm.
The plan aims to reinforce the telecommunications infrastructure, provide high-quality services, encourage innovation and investment in communications technology, in addition to creating an attractive environment for innovative companies in this important field.

TRA update Wi-Fi regulations to permit Wi-Fi 6E

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Bahrain have announced that they have updated their Wi-Fi regulations to permit the use of 5470 – 5725 MHz in the 5 GHz band, & to enable Wi-Fi 6E using the frequency range 5925 – 6425 MHz

Merge DWLF & M and TRA

Merge DWLF & M and TRA. Previously there have been 2 communication regulators operating in Bahrain. The ‘Directorate of Wireless Licensing, Frequency & Monitoring’ (DWLF&M), and the ‘Telecommunications Regulatory Authority’(TRA), will be merging and type approvals for all products will be issued by TRA moving forward.  Although the merger has not yet been officially announced

Type Approval for Short Range Devices

The Ministry of Transportation (MoT) in Bahrain transferred the reponsibility of short range devices type approval to a new authority called the Central Informatics & Communication Organization.

The new authority limited type approval certificates to three years validity period. This new three years validity period applies to new Type Approvals as well as to applications for extensions of expired Type Approval certificates.

However, Bahrain’s telecommunication regulatory authority (TRA) is still issuing Type Approvals for telecommunication product of a validity period of 6 months.
