Saudi Arabian regulatory authority Communications and Information Technology Commission CITC has recently changed its name to Communications, Space & Technology Commission CST. On the 10th of November 2022 the cabinet issued decree No. 235 dated 07/04/1444H in which transferring the space regulatory sectors to the Commission, and change its title to Communications, Space & Technology Commission, recognizing the importance of integration of communications, space and technology.

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) published SASO RoHS regulations, Regulation will be implemented in a roll out phase with Telecommunication and Information Technology Equipment, taking effect December 31, 2022. Products in this category will be required to prove compliance to the RoHS Regulation as a part of Saudi Arabia’s approval requirements. 

Products placed on the market before the implementation dates are allowed a grace period and can sell for 365 days. After that time period, they must comply with the Regulation or they will be recalled. It is important to note that as a part of SASO certification, the validity period is one year.
