Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has started accepting applications for “Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN)” license.

This license shall be valid 5 years.

Applicants for the license will have to provide letter of application, CNIC along with other relevant details/documents

Published Resolution No. 270

The Government of the Republic of Belarus published its Resolution No. 270, On May 05, 2022 came into effect with an aim to provide temporary eased RF/Telecom compliance requirements.

The Decree should have entered into force on May, 6th 2022 and is valid until December, 31st 2023.

The main points determined that:

  1. Validity of conformity certificates and declarations (CoC and DoC) will be extended for a period of 12 months in case the expiry date of a CoC/DoC falls between May, 6th 2022 and September, 1st 2022.
  2. No re-assessment of conformity and/or periodic assessment of certified products is required before expiry of the CoCs or DoCs
  3. No physical testing of the samples is required as long as test reports from other countries are provided and accepted by the CB
  4. Manufacturers and importers are not expected to provide documents on conformity assessment in case they import either spare parts for repairs or component parts for products and machines manufactured in the Republic of Belarus.

Update RLAN instructions

Telecommunications Regulatory Commission of Jordan have published a formal update to the RLAN instructions.

Main changes are as follows:
1. 5250-5350MHz frequency band is now open for indoor and outdoor use, with 23 dBm max EIRP.
2. 5470-5725MHz frequency band is now open for indoor use only, with 30 dBm max EIRP.
3. 5925-6425 (WIFI 6E)  frequency band is now open for:
– portable devices (indoor and outdoor), with max EIRP 25mW (14 dBm).

– indoor use only, with max EIRP, 200 mW (23 dBm).
4. 57 – 71 GHz frequency band is now open, with 40 dBm max EIRP and Tx power not exceeding 27 dBm

Main updates are:

*Validity of the certificate has been extended. Now the certificate will be granted for 3 instead of 1 year.

*Another important update is the fee that has also increased.

Hong Kong allows Wi-Fi 6E

The Office of the Communications Authority (OFCA) has published HKCA 1081 for Wi-Fi 6 products. This specification sets out the technical and evaluation requirements for radio communications apparatus operating in the 6 GHz band for wireless local area network.

Products must operate in the 5.925 – 6.425 GHz frequency range, meet the technical requirements specified in the ESTI Harmonised Standard EN 303 687 and safety requirements according to IEC / EN 62368-1.

According to the specification, the maximum output power of the apparatus shall not exceed the limits indicated below:

  1. Indoor Use – Max Output Power (EIRP) 24 dBm
  2. Outdoor Use – Max Output Power (EIRP) 14 dBm

Public Consultation on National Frequency Spectrum Plan

The National Communications Authority of Timor-Leste (ANC) has issued the Draft on March, 4th 2022, National Radio-frequency Spectrum Plan 2022 to update on how radio frequency spectrum is to be allocated for different services in Timor-Leste.

The consultation begins on 1 March 2022 and ends on 31 May 2022. Please ensure all responses reach the ANC by 31 May 2022.

ZICTA Published revised Type Approval Guidelines

The Zambia Information and Communications and Technology Authority (ZICTA) has reviewed the Type approval Guidelines

Main changes are that The Authority shall before revoking an approval, give written notice to the holder of a type approval certificate of its intention to revoke the approval and shall-

  1. give reasons for the intended revocation; and
  2. require the holder to show cause within a period of 7 days why the approval should not be revoked.

The Authority may recall from the market the model of the electronic communications apparatus whose approval has been revoked.
