TEMPORARY SUSPENSION OF WORK IN THE AUTHORITY

The General Authority for Communications and Informatics of Libya has published a notice of a temporary suspension of work in the Authority building. The closure is due to recent vandalism of the building and operations will be conducted remotely until repairs are conducted. 

Type Approval delays may be possible due to the suspension of work.

Frequency Licensing Fees Regulations

Saudi Arabia’s Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) informs that the new Frequency Licensing Fee Regulation has recently entered into force, pursuant to the Decision of the Council of Ministers No. 632 dated June 14, 2022. This regulation applies to all frequencies and aims to support the financing of wireless technologies and ease access to underserved radio frequency ranges.

UPDATED GUIDELINES FOR SHORT RANGE DEVICES

The Communications Authority of Kenya (CAK) has published Guidelines on the Use of Radiofrequency Spectrum by Short Range Devices.

The updated guidelines include:

  • The addition of Ultra-wide bands in the frequencies 3100 – 4800 MHz and 6000 – 9000 MHz.
  • Allocating spectrum for Wi-Fi 6E equipment in the frequency bands 5925-6425 MHz

Malaysian Communications And Multimedia Commission (MCMC) released a new class assignment No.2 2022 on July 25th, 2022. Class Assignment No.1 2021 will be cancelled and replaces by Class Assignment No.2 2022. Which allocate certain frequency bands to various types of  devices including SRDs,UWBs, Radio Access Devices, Remote controlled Devices, RFIDs, Automotive Radars etc

The Telecommunications Regulatory Authority of Bahrain have announced that they have updated their Wi-Fi regulations to permit the use of 5470 – 5725 MHz in the 5 GHz band, & to enable Wi-Fi 6E using the frequency range 5925 – 6425 MHz

ENACOM implement new label changes

ENACOM has published a new label resolution for telecommunications approvals. ENACOM has recently published a new resolution in the Official Bulletin of Argentina which introduces a new label for telecommunications approvals in Argentina.

The ID will be called RAMATEL ID.Old CNC logo and markings are allowed to be used until August 12, 2022.

Existing products should have already been updates and any renewals must use the new labelling provision.

Main changes are :

  • E-Labeling is allowed.
  • Any telecommunication equipment that has been installed in a vehicle must include the RAMATEL logo and restoration number on any accompanying documentation for the vehicle
  • ID numbers remain the same if the renewal application is submitted before the certificate expires
  • The marking on the equipment must be made in a legible manner ,clearly visible and indelible

SASO announce new RoHS requirements

The Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) announce new RoHS requirements. The country has decided to issue a Regulation on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) to be followed by relevant manufacturers and importers of electrical and electronic equipment (EEE).

Product categories that will be affected by this regulation include:·

  •  Small household electrical appliances
    • Large household electrical appliance
    • Telecommunication and information technology equipment
    • Lightning equipment
    • Electrical and electronic equipment and tools
    • Toys and entertainment tools and appliances and sports equipment
    • Tools for monitoring and control

Updates on IPV6 certification

The Standard and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia had announced that the implementation of the interim Type Approval for IPv6 cellular equipment without WiFi interface has been extended for another year, effective July 10, 2022. As a Result all new applications and renewal of Certificate of Conformity (CoC) are allowed with a maximum validity of one (1) year.

However, the applicant must conduct the test in any accredited laboratory available during the interim approval period and submit the test report for SIRIM evaluation. IPv6 Product Declaration letter template has been updated.

RSM The New Zealand Radio Spectrum Management Authority now made the 5925 – 6425 MHz frequency band available for Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) services under the Low Power Indoor (LPI) use and the Very Low Power (VLP) Indoor and Outdoor regimes through the Radiocommunications Regulations (General User Radio License for Short Range Devices) Notice 2022. 

RSM also extended the 57 – 66 GHz band to now cover the 57 – 71 GHz band. This is to support a range of technologies including Multi Gigabit Wireless Systems (MGWS) and International Mobile Telecommunications (IMT) on a shared technology neutral basis.

Summary of technical conditions for 6 GHz WLAN:
