ANATEL Extends Deadline for Simplified Renewal Procedure

On July 26, 2022, the National Telecommunications Agency (ANATEL) in Brazil published an official letter No. 265/2022 for extends the simplified renewal process , which postponing the deadline for simplified renewal policy until October 31, 2022.

For a renewal of a certificate of conformity, ANATEL intermittently waives submission of the following documents:

  • internal/external photos (only applicable if the device has undergone no modifications),
  • test reports (not applicable for devices which failed conformity assessment tests).

The prior deadline was published in ANATEL’s official Letter No. 233/2021.

Updated RF Spectrum Guidelines for SRDs

The Communication Authority of Kenya has recently renewd its guideleines concerning usage of rediofrequency spectrum for short range devices. The amended paper includes information on allocating spectrum for Wi-Fi 6E equipment in the following bands:  
Frequency Bands Power/Magnetic Field Spectrum Access and Mitigation Relevent Standard Notes
5925 – 6425 MHz 23 dBm (200 mW) mean EIRP. Mean EIRP density for inband emissions – 10 dBm/MHz An adequate spectrum sharing mechanism shall be implemented for channel access and occupation ATU Recommendation on 6 GHz. Restricted to Low Power Indoor (LPI) use only Outdoor use (including in road vehicles) is not permitted.
5925 – 6425 MHz 14 dBm (25 mW) EIRP Mean EIRP density for inband emissions 1 dBm/MHz. An adequate spectrum sharing mechanism shall be implemented for channel access and occupation. Very Low Power (VLP) Indoor and outdoor use. Use of drones is prohibited. Very Low Power (VLP) device is a portable device.

MTCTE: Amendments to Mandatory Testing and Certification

The Telecommunication Engineering Centre in the Republic of India has newly issued amendments to obligatory testing and certification of telecommunication equipment.

The amendments extend, inter alia, the date of mandatory certification of the MTCTE phase-III and phase-IV devices for a period of 12 months starting from July 1, 2022 until July 1, 2023.

CITC Opens Public Consultation for Spectrum Use Regulation for Amateur Radio Services

The Communications and Information Technology Commission (CITC) open public consultation for Spectrum use regulation for Amateur Radio Services. This document allocates and regulates the use of spectrum for amateur radio service.

The maximum allowable level of spurious emissions, relative to the transmitted power are :

*  Using frequencies ≤ 30 MHz should be 40 dB less than the average power in the necessary transmission bandwidth, provided that this power does not exceed 50 mW

* Using frequencies > 30 MHz should be 60 dB less than the average power in the necessary transmission bandwidth, provided that this power does not exceed 1 mW

There are two categories of Amateur Radio License. The category determines which frequency bands the Radio Amateur is Permitted to transmit on :

* Full License: Allows the Radio Amateur to transmit and receive on all the frequency bands allowed for the Amateur Service in the KSA

* Foundation License: Allows the Radio Amateur to only transmit on frequency bands above 30 MHz

SUTEL New requirement for Mobile terminals

The Telecom Regulatory Authority Superintendence of Telecommunications of Costa Rica (SUTEL) in Costa Rica has published RCS-141-2022, which revokes RCS-118-2021 released in last year.

According to the new regulation, for new applicants who wants to apply for homologation of mobile telecommunication terminals need to meet below requirements:

  Cellular product applications will now require hard copies with Apostille stamps, and the Apostille exemption for cellular applications is no longer in effect.

  Registration with the Dirección General de Calidad (DGC) must be updated every four years via a notarized declaration letter, companies already have registration will also need to perform this update every four years to maintain its validity.

RCS-141-2022 came into effect on June 16th, 2022

MTCT Certificate validity extension

TEC has increased the validity of MTCTE certificates from 5 years to 10 years to reduce the burden of compliance on the industry. Hence, regular certificates going to be issued after the release of this notification i.e. from 01-07-2022 will carry the validity of 10 years. However:

Validity of certificates issued before 01-07-2022 will remains 5 years.

The validity of provisional certificates to be issued will remain for 2 years.

Changes in Technical Regulation on Radio Equipment

Government of the Republic of Moldova issued the Resolution #208. The resolution makes changes to the Decision of the Government of Moldova # 34 dated January 30, 2019 on approval of Technical Regulations “On ensuring the presence of radio equipment on the market”.

Government Decision no. 34/2019 on the approval of the Technical Regulation “Making available on the market radio equipment” will have the following content:

  1. The presence of the CE marking on the radio equipment precludes the need to affix the MS conformity marking to the same equipment;”.
  2. This decision shall enter into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Moldova.

The Regulation became effective from its publication date in the Official Gazette of Moldova.
