Extension of CE Mark

The UK Government announced that the required UKCA (UK Conformity Assessed) marking deadline has been extended by an additional two years (Till 31 December 2024 ) During this time, both UKCA or CE Marks may be used. For further two years, the government will continue to recognize the CE marking on the product in the United Kingdom, enabling businesses to utilize either UKCA or CE Marking. Applicant can continue to use the CE marking on the GB market until 31 December 2024

SABS announces additional scheme to support the global electronics industry

South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) has formally implemented the ILAC EMC CoC certification procedure. SABS will now accept test reports to CE standards which have been issued by SABS-approved or ILAC-accredited labs in place of testing at a SABS-accredited lab. Manufacturers can now apply for SABS approval using ILAC-accredited test reports. This applies to applications for all non-telecommunication electronic and electrical equipment

The new regulation came into force on November 1, 2022

The China National Certification Administration (CNCA) has announced that it will no longer implement compulsory product certification (CCC) for nine types of electronic and electrical products

 Products that are no longer subject to compulsory certification management (9 types)

  1. Single-speaker and multi-speaker active speakers with a total output power of less than 500W (effective value) (0801)
  2. Audio power amplifier (0802)
  3. Audio and video recording, playback and processing equipment in various carrier forms (including various optical discs, tapes, hard disks and other carrier forms) (0805, 0812)
  4. Electronic organ (0813)
  5. Cordless telephone terminal (1604)
  6. Data terminal (1608)
  7. Multimedia terminal (1609)
  8. Intrusion Detector (1901)
  9. Anti-theft alarm controller (1902)

Products included in the compulsory certification management (2 types)

1. Lithium-ion batteries and battery packs, mobile power supplies used in electronic and electrical products

2. Power adapter/charger for telecommunications terminal products

SUBTEL publish Resolución 2844

Subsecretaría de Telecomunicaciones (SUBTEL) published Resolution 2844.decided to review its spectrum decision and make available only part of the 6 GHz band, between 5.925 MHz and 6.125 MHz, for use of unlicensed services.
The resolution takes into consideration the following points:

1) That it is necessary to adjust the frequency bands of the technology called WiFi 6 in the regulations, in order to await the decision on international harmonization that will take place at the next World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC-23), indicated in the item 1.2 of the Agenda for said meeting.

2) That it is necessary to adapt the certification requirements to the reality of the market.

3) The need to efficiently manage the use of the radio spectrum, and in use of my legal powers.

NTC ISSUE MEMORANDUM TO MOBILE PHONE MANUFACTURERS

On September 14, 2022, The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) issued Memorandum Order No. 006-09-2022 which directs the representatives of mobile phone manufacturers, distributors and dealers to implement the following measures to inform the public of protective mobile phone features that can protect users from text scams. These protective mobile phone features through various means, such as, but not limited to:

  1. Provide directions to their mobile phone users on how to block texts from mobile numbers not in their contact lists and how to create a spam folder in their inboxes. These directions shall be disseminated through the manufacturer’s websites and social media accounts (i.e. Facebook, Instagram, etc.);
  2. Put up posters in their physical stores to educate their mobile phone buyers on how to use, enable or activate the text blocking, spam folder and other similar features in their phones; and

     3. Include in each new mobile phone package an insert or leaflet containing directions on how to use,  enable or activate the text blocking, spam folder and other similar features in their phones

The measures above shall take effect within fifteen (15) days from the issuance of this Memorandum Order and become part of the mandatory Type Approval process for NTC applications

PTA issue drafts for telecom equipment's

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has released a draft regulation called, Regulations for Telecom Equipment’s Standards, 2022. These regulations shall come into force from the date of gazette notification. The regulation will be applicable on all license issued under the Pakistan Telecommunication (Re- organization) Act, 1996

The Regulation lists out the minimum international requirements that needs to meet for the technical standards, as of the following:

Electromagnetic Compatibility Standards (EMC) -applicable for all Satellite, Terminal, Terrestrial, Telecom and Wireless Equipment.

Health & Safety – applicable for all Satellite, Terminal, Terrestrial, Telecom and Wireless Equipment.

Radio Frequency (RF) Communication Standards – applicable to all Telecommunication Equipment
using the required radio Frequency.

Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) Standards -applicable for all Mobile Devices using the required radio Frequency.
