ARCT Open public consultation for 5G

ARCT Open a public consultation on the roadmap for development of the fifth generation of mobile (5G). Telecommunications Regulation and Control Agency (ARCT) Burundi for the imminent introduction of the fifth generation of mobile communications technology (5G). ARCT has just developed a roadmap that describes activities aimed at supporting, stimulating and facilitating the deployment of networks and 5G services in the country.

MTCT Certificate validity extension

TEC has increased the validity of MTCTE certificates from 5 years to 10 years to reduce the burden of compliance on the industry. Hence, regular certificates going to be issued after the release of this notification i.e. from 01-07-2022 will carry the validity of 10 years. However:

Validity of certificates issued before 01-07-2022 will remains 5 years.

The validity of provisional certificates to be issued will remain for 2 years.

Changes in Technical Regulation on Radio Equipment

Government of the Republic of Moldova issued the Resolution #208. The resolution makes changes to the Decision of the Government of Moldova # 34 dated January 30, 2019 on approval of Technical Regulations “On ensuring the presence of radio equipment on the market”.

Government Decision no. 34/2019 on the approval of the Technical Regulation “Making available on the market radio equipment” will have the following content:

  1. The presence of the CE marking on the radio equipment precludes the need to affix the MS conformity marking to the same equipment;”.
  2. This decision shall enter into force on the date of its publication in the Official Gazette of the Republic of Moldova.

The Regulation became effective from its publication date in the Official Gazette of Moldova.

UKCA new Safety products marking

The government has announced a range of changes to make it simpler for businesses to apply new product conformity markings for most products placed on the market in England, Scotland and Wales.

The government has announced changes aimed at making it simpler for British businesses to apply the new UK Conformity Assessed (UKCA) mark to products placed on the UK market.

The UKCA mark is mandatory on certain products and indicates that goods conform to domestic safety legislation.

Businesses have until 1 January 2023 to start using the new label which replaces the EU’s CE mark.

Based on the announcement (20 June), the new measures will:

  • Reduce re-testing costs, by allowing certificates issued by EU conformity assessment bodies before the end of 2022 to be used as the basis for a UKCA mark
  • Eliminate the need for the relabelling of products by permitting existing goods imported before January 2023 to be treated as being already placed on the GB market
  • Clarify that imported spare parts, which repair or replace goods already on the GB market, will meet the same requirements as the existing goods themselves
  • Allow UKCA marking and other important details to be added via a sticky label or accompanying paperwork until 31 December 2025

IFT Introduced Guidelines for Product Approval

The Federal Telecommunications Institute of Mexico (IFT) informed that the guidelines for the approval of products, equipment, devices or apparatus intended for telecommunications or broadcasting become effective from June 27, 2022

The IFT notifies that Homologation application must be submitted only through the “Request Format/eFormat for obtaining the Homologation Certificate for a Telecommunications or Broadcasting Product” according to Appendix C of the Guidelines through the electronic service portal of the IFT.

The following requests can be applied according to the Guidelines:

Application for Certificate of Homologation TYPE A

Application for extension of the homologation certificate Type A: Family of Product models or group of products

Request for the Report on changes in the Product for Type A Homologation

Application for Certificate of Homologation TYPE B

Application for Certificate of Homologation TYPE C

Request for reissuance of the Homologation Certificate

Application for revocation of the Homologation Certificate

Application for Type A Registration Inherently conforming products or scientific, medical or industrial equipment or apparatus

Please, note that homologation certificates now are non-transferable but can include affiliates, subsidiaries and importers (relevant for Homologation Types A and C). 

The key changes within the conformity procedure are the following:

Schematics and block diagrams should be provided when applying for Homologation Types B and C

Technical file should be in Spanish, including user manual

The prefix “IFT” and the number of the Homologation Certificate must be easily legible

Open Public consultation for incorporating QR Code in label

The Australian Communication and Media Authority (ACMA), has opened a public consultation proposing to amend the Telecommunications (Labelling Notice for Customer Equipment and Customer Cabling) Instrument 2015 (the Telecommunications Labelling Notice) to enable the use of a QR code, or similar thing, as a form of label.

The labeling requirements in the Telecommunications Labeling Notice require suppliers to label their equipment with RCM and do not have the option to label equipment with a QR code. This means that there is an inconsistency between the radiocommunication and telecommunications labeling requirements, So the new amendment aim that the Telecommunications Labelling Notice to include QR codes to align the labelling requirements with those under the Radiocommunications Act. This will provide consistency and flexibility for suppliers in the Australian market

ANATEL Approves technical requirements for the 3.7 to 3.8 GHz

The National Telecommunications Agency (Anatel) approved, through Act No. 8,991/2022 , the technical requirements and conditions of use for low-power ground stations in the 3.7-3.8 GHz band.

The Act approved the use of the band from 3.7 GHz to 3.8 GHz by stations of terrestrial systems, especially for private networks, indoor and outdoor , operating at low power and operational limits and engineering technicians who promote the appropriate conditions for the use and sharing of the radio frequency spectrum in that band

Mauritius ICTA Allows WAS/RLAN Use in 6 GHz Band

Mauritius Regulatory authority The Information and Communication Technologies Authority (ICTA) of Mauritius has published the “Decision for Allocation of Additional Spectrum in the Frequency Range 5945-6425 MHz for Broadband Wireless Access Services in Mauritius”. This Decision now allows the 5945-6425 MHz frequency band to be available for WAS/RLAN use.

Main decisions are :

Frequency band 5945-6425 MHz has been allocated to the mobile services, Fixed services(FS) and the fixed – satellite services (FSS) on primary basis in ITU Region 1 and in the Mauritius frequency allocation table (MFAT)

The frequency band 5945-6425 MHz made available for WAS/RLAN use as follows:

a) INDOOR LOW POWER (ILP) devices restricted to indoor use only. Outdoor use of those Indoor Low Power devices(Incl. Road vehicles) is not permitted

b) Very Low Power (VLP) devices for both indoor and outdoor use, Except for fixed outdoor use. Use of Very Low Power devices on radio-controlled models is prohibited

WAS/RLAN Devices shall comply with the technical conditions and standardization requirements
